Trip Overview

Island Peak Trek is a popular trek that is suitable for both neophytes as well as the experienced traveler. This trek offers a climbing experience beyond simple trekking in Nepal along with Hike to the base camp of world’s highest mountain. Tmja Tse, famously known as Island Peak is the mountain in Sagarmatha National Park of Himalayan region of Nepal.  Island Peak is at an elevation of 6189m. The view from the top of the peak is breath-stopping. This trek will offer you picturesque views In the Khumbu valley of Himalayas.


Island Peak is a popular choice among novice adventurers. This peak was named as Island Peak because it was located in the middle of Chhukung Valley, like an island on a sea of Ice. This trek will begin in Kathmandu. On fulfillment of essential trek preparation, we will fly to Lukla from Kathmandu. We will head toward Phakding by trekking. We will continue our expedition to Island Peak by trekking to Namche Bazar, followed by Tengboche, Lobuche, Gorak Shep and Kala Patthar. Namche Bazar and Kala Patthar are significant highlights of this trek. Namche Bazar is a homeland for hikers and traveler. The lavish hotel and accommodation in Namche Bazar are no less than any hotels in Capital city. The tradition and culture of Sherpa Community in Namche Bazar is another attraction of this trek.

 

Kala Patthar is a very popular trekking destination in Everest region.  The picturesque views of the Himalayas including Nuptse, Changtse, and Everest are amazing. On soaring, we will reach our destination, Island Peak and Base Camp of Island Peak. The trek will end on reaching back to Kathmandu from Lukla and Pokhara.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu You will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring the city on your own.

Day 2: Trip preparation in Kathmandu You will meet with your trekking guide for a briefing and trip preparation. The guide will provide information about the trek, including the itinerary, required gear, and safety precautions. You will also have time to purchase or rent any necessary equipment.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla, phakding You will take an early morning flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. Upon arrival, you will meet with your porter and trekking guide and start your trek to Phakding. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River and passes through several villages and suspension bridges.

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazar You will continue your trek along the Dudh Koshi River and cross several suspension bridges. You will enter Sagarmatha National Park and climb steeply to Namche Bazaar, a bustling town and the main trading center of the region.

Day 5: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar You will spend a day in Namche Bazaar to acclimatize to the high altitude. You can explore the town and visit the local market or hike to nearby viewpoints for stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 6: Namche Bazar to Tengboche You will trek to Tengboche, a scenic village that is home to one of the largest Buddhist monasteries in the region. Along the way, you will enjoy panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other peaks.

Day 7: Tengboche to Periche You will descend to the Imja Khola River and cross it before ascending to Pangboche. From there, you will trek to Periche, a small village with several lodges.

Day 8: Periche to Lobuche You will continue your trek along the Khumbu Glacier and climb steeply to Lobuche, a small settlement with basic amenities.

Day 9: Lobuche to Gorak Shep You will trek to Gorak Shep, the last settlement before Everest Base Camp. You will have lunch and then continue your trek to the iconic Kala Patthar viewpoint for stunning views of Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks.

Day 10: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar

On day 10, you’ll make the ascent to Kala Patthar (5,545m), which is one of the highlights of the trek. You’ll start early in the morning, usually before dawn, to ensure that you reach the summit in time for sunrise. The climb to the summit is steep, but the views from the top are incredible. You’ll be able to see Mount Everest and many other Himalayan peaks.

Day 11: Lobuche to Kongma La

On day 11, you’ll trek from Lobuche to Kongma La (5,535m), which is a high mountain pass that will require some technical skills to cross. The trail is steep and rocky, and you’ll need to use ropes and other equipment to make the ascent. The pass is usually covered in snow, so you’ll need to be prepared for cold and windy conditions.

Day 12: Chukung to Island Peak Base Camp

On day 12, you’ll trek from Chukung to Island Peak Base Camp (5,200m). This is a challenging day of hiking that involves a steep climb up to the base camp. You’ll need to be well acclimatized and in good physical condition to make the ascent.

Day 13: Pre-climb training on Island Peak

On day 13, you’ll spend the day at the base camp, where you’ll receive pre-climb training from your guide. You’ll learn about the equipment you’ll be using and the techniques you’ll need to employ to successfully summit Island Peak. You’ll also practice using the ropes and other equipment you’ll need during the climb.

Day 14: Island Peak Base Camp to Island summit

On day 14, you’ll start early in the morning to make the ascent to the summit of Island Peak (6,189m). This is a challenging climb that requires technical skills and experience. You’ll need to be prepared for cold and windy conditions, as well as steep and exposed terrain. The views from the top are breathtaking, and you’ll be able to see some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas.

Day 15: Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche

On day 15, you’ll trek from Island Peak Base Camp back to Pangboche. This is a long day of hiking, but it’s mostly downhill and you’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.

Day 16: Pangboche to Namche Bazar

On day 16, you’ll trek from Pangboche to Namche Bazar, retracing your steps along the trail. You’ll have the opportunity to rest and recover from the climb, and you’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and cultural sites along the way.

Day 17: Namche Bazar to Lukla

On day 17, you’ll trek from Namche Bazar to Lukla, where you’ll spend the night before flying back to Kathmandu the next day. This is the final day of your trek, and you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on your journey and the incredible experiences you’ve had.

Day 18: Fly to Kathmandu

On day 18, you’ll fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. This is a short but scenic flight that offers stunning views of the Himalayas. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you’ll have the rest of the day to relax and explore the city.

Day 19: Final Departure

On day 19, you’ll depart from Kathmandu and head back home, bringing with you unforgettable memories of your trek to Island Peak.

Before You Go
